Engineered cell membrane-cloaked metal-organic framework nanocrystals for intracellular cargo delivery published by Migliavacca M. and Cedrún-Morales M. et al. in Journal of Colloidal and Interface Science.
This study presents cell membrane-cloaked UiO-67 nanosized metal–organic frameworks (NMOFs) engineered for efficient intracellular delivery of therapeutic and diagnostic agents. Coated with fusogenic cell membrane-derived nanovesicles from A549 cells, these NMOFs exhibit enhanced biocompatibility, homotypic targeting, and bypass endolysosomal entrapment. The system successfully delivered carboplatin, demonstrating its potential in targeted drug delivery for 2D and 3D cancer models.
